Welcome to Logbooks, a Journal of Flying Adventures!

Twenty three years of flying have produced several logbooks of one-line entries that just aren't adequate to capture the joys and adventures aviation has brought to my, and our, lives. In the big scheme I'm not that special a pilot: I've flown jets but I'm not a jet pilot; I've flown in fighters, even flown them from the back seat and (once) landed one, but I'm not a fighter pilot; our beloved airplane is the humble Cessna Skylane, the most beautiful one in the air; I instruct but I'm not a full-time instructor; although having flown for this long I don't have thousands of hours (1,800 to be nearly exact). Still, I think I'm doing all right, have flown in most of the lower 50 states, and have a lot of stories to tell.

This will be a mix of new and old, intermixing current flights as they happen with remembrances of flights, planes and people from the past. I hope you enjoy the visit, and thank you for stopping by.

Jack Shelton
